Our Legacy Leader

Behind every company is a fearless leader. Behind ours is a fearless leader with an incredible purpose. LivingRoots was built for a variety of reasons that center on security, family and memories. Today we took a moment to catch up with our CEO, Nicole Trimboli, to learn more about the motivation behind this technological masterpiece and what type of legacy she hopes to leave.

What created a desire to start this company?

The idea for Living Roots was born in a graduate school class I was taking. The assignment was to come up with a product or service that would improve the lives of a wide range of people. I’d just finished a social media class. It was fascinating to learn the affects psychologically that social media channels have on our society. The way we are connecting and would continue to communicate in the future was weighing heavily on my mind. I decided to start building a business plan around a web service that would help bridge the gap between generations while still utilizing tools many of us had become familiar with online.

What is the greatest reward thus far from creating Living Roots? What has been your biggest struggle?

The biggest reward is seeing something you’ve created become a reality. The concept started as an assignment and now it’s here! Families are able to log-in and collect heart-felt memories and share them with those matter most. Instead of a platform where your information is shared with many, LivingRoots is a safe, secure place where you can connect intimately with those that you love.

The biggest challenge? Now that it’s here it’s about letting the world know it exists. I know with time that the members will truly be the biggest advocates of this platform’s growth. Data security is a huge issue in today’s times and I feel I’ve solved that problem. LivingRoots is an enjoyable, safe space to connect, grow, learn and share.

How do you want to be remembered?

As we are dealing with family legacies it’s a very interesting topic! I think I’d like to be remembered most for always willing to be helpful. I try to step in and be of service whenever and wherever possible. I think because I live my life this way, I’m blessed to be surrounded by people who do the same. I’m so grateful for the team that I’ve built. I hope I’ll be remembered as a leader as well as a mentor. I can only hope I’ve had the type of impact on my team’s lives as they’ve had on mine. Most importantly? I want to be remembered as someone who didn’t take herself too seriously. Humor and laughter is at the heart of everything I do.

Who should be interested in your services? Why?

Honestly, this service can benefit everyone! However, I’ve discovered that in each family there is always that one person that can be counted on to take pictures, store albums, collect mementos and keep the family history alive. I call these people Memory Keepers. They’re the ones that save the little things that might not seem that important at the time, but somehow instinctively know that this item will be cherished in time to come. This site has been built for them and for anyone who wants not only their life to be remembered but the memories of their ancestors to be kept fresh for generations to come.

What is the future of family ancestry?

Today it’s so much more dynamic than traditional methods we come across while doing family research. It will be shared experiences through comments, videos, and images. It will be filled with personal testimonials that come directly from ancestors explaining their life adventures, triumphs, etc. I can’t wait to see what the site looks like in 50 to a 100 years. Can you imagine a grandmother who passed being able to tell a great-child how much she loves them? Think of how that child will benefit from hearing her voice, watching her talk and exploring her memories.

What does family mean to you?

To put it simply, family mean unconditional love. My site is a tool to keep that love continuing on for generations.
